- Governor Ododo ensured timely payment of civil servants’ salaries on December 14
Kogi State Governor, Usman Ododo, has distributed over 100 truckloads of rice to residents across the state to ease the burden of rising costs and ensure a joyous Christmas and New Year celebration.
The initiative, disclosed by the Commissioner for Information and Communications, Kingsley Fanwo, on Friday in Lokoja, highlights the governor’s commitment to the welfare of the people.
Fanwo confirmed that the rice has been dispatched to all 21 local government areas, with measures in place to ensure equitable distribution.
“The Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation has been directed to oversee the process and prevent political interference,” Fanwo said.
In addition to the rice distribution, Governor Ododo ensured timely payment of civil servants’ salaries on December 14 and extended support to residents not on the government payroll.
Reports from local governments show widespread jubilation, with residents praising the governor’s leadership. Andrew Abah, a resident of Igalamela/Odolu, described him as “a leader with genuine love for his people.”
The rice distribution is part of broader efforts by the administration to cushion the economic hardships faced by Kogi residents during the festive season.
