After his arrest, Tunji was taken to the Special Investigation Bureau (SIB) at the command headquarters in Ilorin on Friday.

According to Daily Post, he was denied bail, and his parents had to leave the station very late on Friday, only for them to receive a call on Saturday morning informing them that he had died in detention.

Tunji was allegedly tortured to death in detention due to an existing deal between him and the yet-to-be-identified man he owed.

The state police command confirmed the incident in a statement by its spokesperson, DSP Ejire Adeyemi Toun.

“The state police command is aware of an unfortunate incident that led to the tragic death of one Mr. Jimoh Abdulquadri, which occurred on December 20, 2024.

“The deceased was invited on an alleged case of obtaining money by false pretense to the tune of N220,000.

“Discreet investigation into the incident has commenced to ascertain the cause, and further developments on the outcome will be communicated as it progresses, as no stone will be left unturned,” the statement vowed
