  • The PRP expressed it’s thoughts and prayers remain with the families who are grieving during this difficult time.
  • The party called on the government to ensure citizens’ safety and prevent Nigerians from becoming beggars.

The Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) has condemned the multiple tragic stampedes in Ibadan, Oyo State, Abuja, and Anambra, which occurred during food distribution events and funfairs.

A statement issued on Sunday by Muhammed Ishaq, PRP national publicity secretary, extends heartfelt condolences to the families and communities of the victims.

The statement said these devastating incidents highlight the alarming conditions many Nigerians face.

The PRP said that these tragedies are indicative of a societal crisis, adding that the alarming frequency of such incidents calls for serious reflection by all levels of government and society.

The opposition party said the happenings expose a failure to prioritize the welfare and safety of citizens amidst dire socio-economic conditions.

“The scenes of chaos and panic at these gatherings underline the extreme poverty and desperation that exist in our society—conditions that have been exacerbated by years of persistent and systemic misgovernance.

“The PRP holds the Federal Government accountable for escalating hardships. The PRP demands immediate action to address the root causes of these preventable incidents. It’s a call for better governance and protection of human dignity and life,” the statement added.

The PRP noted that the Tinubu administration’s policies have exacerbated poverty, adding that Nigerians should vote out All Progressives Congress (APC) and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in future elections.

According to the PRP, 26 years is long enough to prove that the APC and PDP cannot deliver Nigeria to the promised land. The electorates must do better with their votes.

On the last note, the party extended merry Christmas wishes to all Christian and urged them to pray for the souls of the victims.
