FCT Police Deploy 3,180 Personnel for Festive Season

The deployment aims to secure places of worship, event centres, and public spaces while addressing potential threats in black spots

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has deployed 3,180 officers to enhance security across Abuja during the festive period.

Commissioner of Police Olatunji Disu, in a statement by the command’s spokesperson Josephine Adeh, said the deployment aims to secure places of worship, event centres, and public spaces while addressing potential threats in black spots, uncompleted buildings, and shanties.

The measures include Rapid Response Squads, tactical teams, stop-and-search operations, and both vehicular and foot patrols. Police Explosive Ordinance Disposal teams will also conduct security sweeps of critical infrastructure.

The FCT Command is working with other security agencies to strengthen public safety and is urging cooperation from religious leaders and recreational facility owners.

Disu extended Christmas wishes to the Christian community and all residents, assuring them of the command’s dedication to their safety. He also advised against the use of fireworks and knockouts, which could cause public alarm.
