The Federal Government has declared Wednesday, 25th December, Thursday, 26th December 2024, and Wednesday, 1st January 2025, as public holidays to mark Christmas, Boxing Day, and New Year celebrations.
Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, Minister of Interior, made the announcement on behalf of the government, according to a statement issued on Monday by the Ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Dr. Magdalene Ajani.
In his message, the minister extended warm greetings to Nigerians, encouraging them to embrace the season’s values of love, peace, and unity.
“The Christmas season is a time for spiritual reflection and national renewal. As we celebrate the birth of Jesus, the Prince of Peace, let us demonstrate kindness and extend goodwill to one another, irrespective of our differences,” he said.
Dr. Tunji-Ojo also urged citizens to use the festive period to strengthen family and community bonds while remaining committed to peace and national progress.
He reassured Nigerians of the government’s dedication to fostering security, unity, and prosperity across the country.
The minister expressed optimism about the success of President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, forecasting a prosperous 2025 with improved economic prospects.
Wishing all Nigerians a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year, Dr. Tunji-Ojo emphasised the importance of collective efforts in achieving national development.
