The Commissioner of Police in Anambra State, CP Nnaghe Itam, has ordered the deployment of X-Squad operatives at various checkpoints across the state to ensure police officers maintain professionalism in the discharge of their duties.
In a statement issued on Tuesday by the command’s spokesperson, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the operation aims to monitor and ensure that police personnel refrain from acts of extortion, harassment, and unruly behaviour, particularly towards travellers.
“The Commissioner of Police, CP Nnaghe Itam, has directed the deployment of X-Squad operatives at checkpoints across the state,” the statement read.
The team, led by Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) Emeka Chukwuemeka, the former police public relations officer of the Command, will complement the existing personnel to maintain law and order. Their special task is to patrol and ensure compliance with the Force’s standard operational procedures.
Additionally, the public complaint bureau and complaint response unit will be available 24/7 to address any security concerns from Anambra residents.
The CP emphasised that all residents and visitors to Anambra State deserve to be treated with respect in accordance with the policing principles of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun. He also urged the public to report any erring officers promptly for appropriate disciplinary action.
