‘Confirmation of APC’s insensitivity, disconnection from Nigerians’ — PDP faults Tinubu’s media chat

...says the media chat shows Tinubu does not care about economic hardship

APC and PDP

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has denounced President Bola Tinubu’s inaugural media chat, labeling it a “confirmation of the All Progressives Congress (APC) administration’s indifference” to Nigerians’ struggles.

This is contained in a statement issued in Abuja, PDP’s National Publicity Secretary, Hon. Debo Ologunagba.

Tinubu held his first media chat as president on December 23 and spoke on several issues affecting the nation.

The PDP spokesman voiced concerns about the government’s failure to address widespread hardship caused by poorly implemented and anti-people policies.

“The Presidential media parley confirms the administration’s insensitivity to the current widespread hardship and suffering being faced by Nigerians resulting from the ill-implemented and anti-people policies of the APC,” Ologunagba said.

The PDP took issue with President Tinubu’s claim that he has no regrets about abruptly removing the fuel subsidy without implementing measures to mitigate its economic impact.

Ologunagba noted that this decision has crippled the productive sector, led to soaring living costs, and exacerbated poverty.

According to the PDP, Tinubu’s admission of the government’s inability to effectively police borders and prevent petroleum smuggling highlights the APC administration’s failure.

The PDP criticized the APC for failing to account for fuel subsidy savings while subjecting Nigerians to economic hardship.

The party highlighted issues such as a stagnant productive sector, Naira depreciation (₦1,700 to the US Dollar), 34.6% inflation, and 40% unemployment.

Ologunagba cited recent food stampedes that killed around 80 Nigerians as evidence of the perilous times under APC governance.

The party also condemned Tinubu’s claims of improved road safety, contrasting it with the reality of banditry, kidnapping, and poor road conditions.

The PDP faulted the APC for failing to invest in agriculture, electricity, petroleum, gas, and small and medium-scale enterprises, vital for driving the national economy.

The PDP urged President Tinubu to experience Nigerians’ harsh realities by traveling from Abuja to Lagos by road, visiting markets, or walking the streets.

Ologunagba concluded by urging the administration to take immediate steps to address Nigerians’ suffering and rebuild trust.
