Niger State: Teenager killed in gang clash

In Niger State, a violent clash between bands of warring miscreants has claimed the life of one Saidu Ubu.

The clash happened in Gurgudu area of Maitumbi and Kwari-Berger in Minna, the Middle Belt State capital.

The deceased a 15-year-old boy a resident of Gurgudu, was killed on Saturday at about 11:30 pm during the brawl.

Eyewitnesses said the melee broke out as a altercations between two rival groups and quickly escalated into a violent skirmish, causing panic among residents in the area.

A police patrol team from Maitumbi Division was deployed to the scene of the chaos after receiving a distress call.

However, the miscreants fled upon sighting the police, leaving behind the injured victim.

The victim was rushed to a nearby hospital for medical attention, however, was unfortunately pronounced dead by the medical personnel.

His death has cast dark cloud of gloom and sorrow on the community, with residents expressing concerns about the rising activities of hoodlums in the area.

Reacting, the Niger State Police Command launched a follow-up manhunt operation in the area, resulting in the arrest of five suspects believed to be connected to the incident.

The arrested individuals are currently undergoing interrogation, while efforts are being intensified to apprehend other fleeing members of the gang.

The police have assured the public that thorough investigations will be conducted to unravel the cause of the clash and bring all those responsible to justice.

Residents have been urged to remain calm and cooperate with the police by providing any useful information that could assist in the investigation.
