The Plateau State House of Assembly has approved a budget of N529.4 billion for the 2025 fiscal year, surpassing the initial proposal by Governor Caleb Mutfwang by over N500 million.
During Monday’s plenary session, Speaker Gabriel Dewan presided over the budget’s passage following a report presented by Hon. Adamu Aliyu, chairman of the House Committee on Appropriation.
Governor Mutfwang had initially submitted a budget proposal of N471.134 billion in early December 2024, allocating N201.5 billion for recurrent expenditure and N269.6 billion for capital projects.
However, after thorough deliberation and scrutiny, the House committee recommended increasing the budget to N529.4 billion. The House Committee of the Whole reviewed and approved the committee’s report.
This adjustment reflects the Assembly’s commitment to addressing the state’s development priorities in 2025.
