Bandits abduct seven travellers in Sokoto

Gunmen suspected to be bandits terrorising Nigeria’s north-west region have kidnapped seven persons in Sokoto State.

The victims were abducted in Sabon Borno area of the State after the assailants ambushed the commercial vehicle they were travelling in near Chin Golf Village.

Zagazola Makama, a counterinsurgency publication focused on the Lake Chad region who disclosed the development, said the incident happened early Tuesday morning.

According to the publication, the victims, comprising six women and a driver, were forced out of the vehicle and taken into the forest.

The report suggested that the gunmen are suspected to be acolytes of Turji Bello, a notorious bandit leader.

The Sokoto State Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Ahmed Rufa’i, has not issued a statement regarding the incident.
