The Minister of State for Health and Social Welfare, Dr. Iziaq Salako, has appealed to Nigerians to remain patient as President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s reforms gradually take effect.
He assured citizens that the administration’s efforts would soon alleviate the nation’s challenges.
Dr. Salako made this plea during a subsidy removal, palliative distribution, and free medical outreach held at Omidokun Hall, Ayetoro, Yewa North Local Government Area of Ogun State.
He explained that the distribution of rice and fertilizers was part of the government’s steps to tackle the ongoing food crisis.
He also highlighted that the medical outreach was his initiative to provide basic health services, including checkups and essential drugs, to his constituents.
Salako revealed that 1,300 bags of rice and 600 bags of fertilizer were distributed to Ogun West Senatorial District’s five local government areas. The beneficiaries included party members, market women, religious groups, traditional rulers, and farmers.
“We allocated 30% of the palliatives to party members, while market women, represented by their leader, the Iyaloja, also received shares.
Religious groups, including the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) and Muslim communities, were not left out,” he said.
To ensure smooth distribution and avoid chaos, Salako stated that items for each group were pre-arranged in separate vehicles and labelled accordingly.
Representatives of the groups were introduced to the drivers for orderly delivery.
The minister conveyed a yuletide message on behalf of President Tinubu, urging Nigerians to celebrate Christmas and New Year with caution and security. He also encouraged prayers for the nation’s progress.
Dr. Salako reaffirmed Tinubu’s commitment to improving living conditions. “The President assures Nigerians that the current hardships will soon ease.
He is confident that his reforms will lead to significant progress, and citizens will enjoy a better standard of living soon,” he added.
