Benue Governor Alia Declares Two-Week Holiday for Civil Servants to Celebrate Christmas

Governor Hyacinth Alia of Benue State has declared a two-week Christmas holiday for civil servants, starting on Tuesday, December 24, 2024, and ending on Monday, January 6, 2025.

The governor announced during his Christmas broadcast at the Government House, Makurdi, highlighting the importance of the season as a time for reflection, gratitude, and family connection.

“As we mark the joy of Christmas and welcome the dawn of 2025, I extend my heartfelt gratitude and best wishes to the people of our dear state.

Christmas is a season to celebrate the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ, whose teachings inspire love, unity, and service to humanity,” Governor Alia said.

Governor Alia praised the dedication of the state’s workforce, acknowledging their crucial contributions to the state’s development agenda.

He noted that the extended holiday demonstrates his administration’s commitment to the well-being of civil servants, allowing them ample time to spend with their families and participate in cultural festivities.

“Christmas is a time of joy and an opportunity to strengthen bonds within our families and communities.

This holiday period is designed to give our employees the space to celebrate fully and recharge for the tasks ahead in the coming year,” he stated.

The governor assured that essential services would remain operational during the holiday period.

Agencies responsible for financial services, security, healthcare, fire services, and energy provision have been directed to deliver uninterrupted service to the public.

Governor Alia concluded his broadcast by extending warm wishes for a joyous Christmas and a prosperous New Year to all Benue residents.
