Labour Party Chairman
  • Abure encouraged Nigerians to take the Christmas season as an opportunity to love, serve, and forgive one another.
  • The chairman appealed to Labour Party members to show compassion to the millions of Nigerians living below the poverty line.

The Labour Party National Chairman Julius Abure has expressed sadness that numerous households cannot afford Christmas celebrations due to Nigeria’s economic challenges.

His statement contained in a Christmas message issued in Abuja by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Obiora Ifoh.

Abure’s comments follow President Bola Tinubu’s nationwide address, where he reiterated the fuel subsidy removal policy would not be reversed.

In his message, Abure urged Nigerians to show kindness to their neighbours during the season and pray for soldiers fighting insurgency and banditry.

The statement read, “Sadly, many Nigerian homes cannot participate in today’s Christmas celebrations due to economic hardships.”

“I urge society to show love to those lacking this season.I also acknowledge soldiers serving to ensure our safety, away from loved ones. Thank you for your service.

“Many gallant soldiers are currently in trenches nationwide, protecting us from terrorists. I urge Nigerians, especially clerics, to pray for these patriots.

Abure encouraged Nigerians to use the Christmas season to love, serve, and forgive one another.

He appealed to Labour Party members to show compassion to millions of Nigerians living below the poverty line.

“Forgiving our neighbours’ trespasses brings joy to humanity,” he continued.

“Hardening our hearts and seeking vengeance brings condemnation.

“I call on Nigerians to adopt Christ’s teaching: ‘Forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us.”
