Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, has expressed that he is growing stronger daily, drawing strength from the unwavering support of the people amid the ongoing political crisis in the state.
In Port Harcourt on Saturday, Fubara said it was encouraging to see true leaders and well-meaning individuals standing firm in the face of pressure, rejecting tyranny and oppression.
The governor’s remarks came amid a long-standing political conflict with his predecessor, former Governor Nyesom Wike, over control of the state’s political leadership. Despite the tensions, Fubara vowed to continue doing what is right for Rivers State.
In a statement issued by his Press Secretary, Nelson Chukwudi, Fubara reflected on how God has guided him through the crisis, calling Him the “Ultimate Liberator” of the state and its people.
Fubara emphasized that the challenges had shaped his perspective on leadership and reinforced his resolve.
He shared, “My strength is drawn from every one of you. You encourage me; you do the work for me; you make the calls for me. So, why wouldn’t I stand up for you?”
Fubara also highlighted that God remains the ultimate force behind his political journey, ensuring his triumph and promising a better future for the people of Rivers.
The governor optimistically assured the people that 2025 would mark a significant improvement from the challenges faced in the past, vowing to continue driving progress in the state with each passing year.
In his speech, former Governor Sir Peter Odili praised Fubara for confronting the political challenges in Rivers, preventing an individual from seizing control of the state and restoring stability.
He also credited Fubara with bringing joy back to civil servants and the Rivers people, as they had experienced during Odili’s office.
Odili reflected on the past year’s intense political struggle, starting on October 25, 2023, and expressed his appreciation for Fubara’s leadership qualities.
Justice Mary Odili, who presented gifts to Governor Fubara and his family during the event, echoed these sentiments, praising Fubara as an emancipator chosen by God. She pledged her family’s continuous support for his administration.
The event, held in honour of Fubara, celebrated his resilience and leadership, offering hope for a brighter future in Rivers State.
