- Governor Eno highlighted that the elderly deserve special attention after years of preserving the state’s legacies
The Akwa Ibom State Government has announced plans to build an Elderly Care Centre within the State Medical Corridor to cater to the health needs of senior citizens aged 65 and above.
Governor Umo Eno revealed this at the ‘Old Skool Night,’ an end-of-year gathering for the elderly held during the ongoing Christmas Unplugged 2.0 at Unity Park, Uyo.
The initiative, inspired by the late Pastor Patience Umo Eno, aims to provide world-class medical services for senior citizens. Governor Eno highlighted that the elderly deserve special attention after years of preserving the state’s legacies and should not face long waits for medical care.
The Governor plans to lay the centre’s foundation in the first two months of 2025, emphasizing the inclusivity drive of his administration, which seeks to accommodate children, youths, women, and the elderly.
Governor Eno also pledged to continue his late wife’s vision of prioritizing the welfare of senior citizens. He expressed his commitment to future celebrations for the elderly, promising special performances to honour her legacy.
