Governor Sir Similanayi Fubara
  • The 2023 presentation was done amid the political crisis that enveloped the state following the defection of 27 state lawmakers from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Governor Sim Fubara of Rivers State on Monday presented the 2025 appropriation bill to the Victor Oko-Jumbo-led House of Assembly

The four-member Assembly faction had earlier read Fubara’s letter requesting permission to present the N1.1 trillion budget during plenary on Monday.

This marks Fubara’s second budget presentation since assuming office.

Fubara had presented the 2024 state appropriation bill of N800 billion in 2023 to a four-man House of Assembly faction led by the Speaker, Edison Ehie.

The 2023 presentation was done amid the political crisis that enveloped the state following the defection of 27 state lawmakers from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Amid the upheaval and imbroglio, parts of the State House of Assembly complex were demolished.

The lawmakers had defected to APC following the face-off between Fubara and his predecessor, Nyesom Wike.

Ehie eventually resigned from the Assembly, after which Fubara appointed him as Chief of Staff
