- The Minister of Federal Capital Territory said he brought Odili out of political obscurity and make him a visible and influential figure in state politics again
Former Rivers State Governor Nyesome Wike says he resuscitated the dead political career of one of his predecessors, Peter Odili.
Recall that Odili had claimed Wike plans to turn Rivers into his private estate and fiefdom were thwarted by a ‘courageous’ Sim Fubara, the incumbent government of the State.
Reacting on Sunday in a trending video on X, Wike said Odili’s remark was unfortunate as he was supposed to be a fatherly figure.
The Minister of Federal Capital Territory said he brought Odili out of political obscurity and make him a visible and influential figure in state politics again.
Reacting, Wike said: “What our former governor said is unfortunate. This is somebody who is supposed to be an elder statesman and a father. He said the president has been able to stop one politician, one man who wants to convert Rivers State to his personal estate.
“You remember when I was a governor, Odili praised me to high heavens. In fact, he said no governor combined has done what I did. Why in 2007, when he left power, he couldn’t be near power because Ameachi was in power? He was gone. When I came in as governor in 2015, I brought him back to life.”
This comes as Wike said he is focused on his assignment as Minister of Federal Capital Territory
