In Ogun State, one Mercy Akande, a seven-year-old girl, who was abducted last week has regained her freedom.
The minor, who was kidnapped at Sango-Ota by a male customer of her mother, was rescued in the Ayetoro area of the state.
The state police command’s Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola, confirmed the rescue of the minor on her X handle, on Sunday.
Within Nigeria had reported how the girl was kidnapped by a yet-to-be-identified male adult who regularly patronised the victim’s mother.
According to the mother, a POS operator, on the day the girl went missing, the man visited her shop, bought food for the seven-year-old girl, and later sent her on an errand to buy a sachet of water.
On her way back, the customer met the child midway to collect the sachet of water and before the mother, who was attending to other customers could look in the direction of her daughter to see what was going on, she could not find the man or her daughter.
However, Odutola on Sunday said the command, in a swift operation, rescued the girl and subsequently arrested the suspects involved in the kidnapping.
