A yet-to-be-identified man died, and seven others sustained injuries in an accident on the Abeokuta-Sagamu Expressway on Saturday.
The crash occurred around 5 pm near Adedero village when the vehicle, an OPEL Sakura with plate number ABJ 486, suffered a tyre burst, causing it to somersault.
The Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency (TRACE) Commandant General, Seni Ogunyemi, confirmed that the victims included five females and three males, with one male passenger losing his life.
The injured were rescued and taken to a nearby hospital with the assistance of the state governor’s wife.
In related incidents, four people died, and 16 others were injured in two separate accidents along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway on the same day.
A hit-and-run driver killed two pedestrians near Kara Bus Stop, while a Toyota Hiace bus carrying 18 passengers suffered a tyre burst and somersaulted near Sapaade, resulting in two deaths and multiple injuries.
