A bomb explosion in Nigeria’s northeast state of Borno has claim the lives of seven Islamic State West Africa Province, ISWAP, terrorists.
The terrorists were killed while they were planting an improvised explosive devices, IEDs.
Zagazola Makama, a Lake Chad Basin counterterrorism and insurgency expert, disclosed the development in a post on his X handle on Tuesday.
According to him, reliable sources privy to the incident disclosed that the explosion happened on December 30, 2024, in a locality between Ba’anfani and Koleram in the far Lake Chad Basin of Borno state.
He stated that the explosion happened during the assembly of the IEDs, which the terrorists likely intended to use for attacks in the region.
“The Lake Chad Basin has been a hotspot for ISWAP activities, with the group frequently resorting to IEDs as part of its terror tactics as a desperate attempt,” the security expert added
