- Senator Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso accused individuals within the NNPP of plotting against Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf to further personal agendas
- Kwankwaso emphasized the importance of unity within the Kwankwasiyya Movement, praising Governor Yusuf for resisting misleading advice from dissenters
The leader of the Kwankwasiyya Movement and 2023 presidential candidate of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), Senator Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso, has accused certain individuals within the party of plotting against Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf.
In an interview with the BBC Hausa Service, Kwankwaso alleged that these individuals are attempting to mislead the governor into distancing himself from the movement.
He claimed their ultimate goal is to see the governor fail so they can exploit the situation for personal gain.
“Some people are advising the governor to ‘stand on his feet,’ but they intend to instigate a separation. They believe distancing him from Kwankwasiyya would benefit their hidden agenda, as some aspire to take his seat,” Kwankwaso said.
He dismissed allegations of interfering in Governor Yusuf’s administration, explaining that his role is purely advisory when approached for counsel.
“Kwankwasiyya is not a political party but a movement built on trust and shared values. If any governor or lawmaker we support fails to deliver, it is not just the individual who is criticized but the entire movement,” he explained.
Kwankwaso praised Governor Yusuf for standing firm against those trying to mislead him, emphasizing the importance of unity within the Kwankwasiyya Movement.
“Those waiting for the governor to make mistakes should know their plans will not succeed. I commend Governor Yusuf for his courage and dedication,” Kwankwaso concluded.
