Northern elders and youth groups have rejected allegations by General Abdourahamane Tchiani, Niger Republic’s military leader, accusing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu of colluding with France to destabilize Niger.
In a communiqué issued after a meeting in Kaduna, the groups, represented by Hon Yusuf Abubakar, Alhaji Yasir Ramadan Kano, and Engr Mustafa Aliyu Dutsin-Ma, described Tchiani’s remarks as baseless, irresponsible, and unpresidential.
“We strongly support President Tinubu’s leadership and his efforts in fostering unity, security, and development in the North,” the statement read. The groups called on Tchiani to apologize immediately and warned against actions that could strain historical ties between Nigeria and Niger.
They also commended National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu for his work in improving security in troubled regions through combined kinetic and non-kinetic strategies.
The groups urged all parties to prioritize patriotism and unity in addressing sensitive issues affecting national growth and regional stability.
