Former Abia State Governor, Senator Orji Uzor-Kalu, has assured Nigerians that President Bola Tinubu is aware of the hunger crisis in the country and is taking decisive measures to address it.

Speaking during a New Year visit to his political ally, Chief Stanley Okoro-Emegha, at Ekoli, Edda Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, Uzor-Kalu called for patience as the president implements tough economic reforms.

“The president is currently taking hard decisions centred on economic development,” Uzor-Kalu said on Thursday. “He is very bold to take such decisions. I might not be bold enough to take such decisions if I were in his position. He is telling Nigerians that we should start afresh.”

While expressing sadness over the current challenges, Uzor-Kalu urged Nigerians to remain hopeful. “We would soon see the big light at the end of the tunnel,” he said.

The Senator’s visit to Okoro-Emegha, who is the Ebonyi State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), was described as an annual tradition to strengthen their relationship.

“I promised Okoro-Emegha that as long as God gives us life, I will always pay this New Year visit,” Uzor-Kalu said.

In his response, Okoro-Emegha, who served as an aide to Uzor-Kalu during his tenure as Abia State Governor from 1999 to 2007, expressed gratitude for the visit, reaffirming the strong bond between them.
