The Shehu of Borno, Alhaji Abubakar Ibn Umar Garbai El-Kanemi, has emphasized the importance of unity among Nigeria’s diverse ethnic groups for the nation’s peace, progress, and development.
Speaking at the 2024 Annual Cultural Festival organized by the Deba Emirate Foundation in Yamaltu Deba Local Government Area of Gombe State, El-Kanemi stressed that unity, understanding, and cooperation are essential to resolving conflicts and fostering harmony.
As the event’s chairman, Shehu highlighted the strong historical and cultural ties between Borno and Gombe States and called for strengthened relationships to promote regional peace and development.
Gombe State’s Deputy Governor, Dr. Manasseh Daniel Jatau, also spoke at the event. He commended the Deba Emirate for its efforts in preserving and celebrating its cultural heritage.
Dr. Jatau announced the state government’s plans to host a mega cultural carnival, showcasing the unique cultural traditions of each emirate, chiefdom, and local government council.
