- NNPP Chairman Hashim Dungurawa urged President Tinubu to reverse “anti-people policies” or face being voted out in the 2027 elections
- Dungurawa emphasized that the NNPP is growing stronger nationwide, positioning itself to secure state and federal seats in upcoming elections
The Chairman of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), Hashim Suleiman Dungurawa, has urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to reverse what he described as “anti-people policies” or risk being voted out in the 2027 elections.
Speaking to journalists on Thursday, Dungurawa dismissed speculation that NNPP’s presidential candidate, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, was planning to defect to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
He reaffirmed that the NNPP is growing stronger, with a presence now established in all 36 states and local government areas across Nigeria.
“Our party has built offices and structures nationwide, positioning us to secure both state and federal seats in the upcoming elections,” Dungurawa said.
He criticized the federal government’s policies, stating that they fail to align with the needs and aspirations of Nigerians. “If these harsh policies continue, Nigerians will make their voices heard by voting out the APC in 2027,” he warned.
Dungurawa has been concerned about the president’s actions since taking office. “From the day he was sworn in, Tinubu began implementing policies that have burdened the people. It feels as if Nigerians are being punished,” he said.
The NNPP leader described Kwankwaso as a committed democrat who could provide the leadership needed to address Nigeria’s challenges.
Dungurawa also commended the Kano State Government for its achievements, describing it as a model for effective leadership.
“Our governor has transformed Kano through infrastructure development, empowerment initiatives, and human capital growth. The state now boasts world-class facilities, both in urban and rural areas,” he said.
Expressing concern over the APC’s alleged attempts to create a one-party state, Dungurawa cautioned against actions that undermine democracy.
“Kano stands as a testament to what true leadership can accomplish. It’s up to us to replicate this success at the national level in 2027,” he concluded.
