In Kogi State, two farmers have reportedly been gunned down by unknown assailants suspected to be kidnappers.
The farmers were killed on Friday at Odo-Ape community in Kabba-Bunu Local Government Area of the State.
It is gathered that the deceased were working on their farms when they were brutally murdered, casting a gloomy cloud of apprehension and uncertainty on the community.
According to sources in Odo-Ape, the two farmers that were killed were identified as Mr Black, a Tiv man, and Sunday Aiyedero.
It is gathered youth of Odo-Ape on Saturday morning took to the street in their number to express their discontent over the deepening security crisis in their community, calling on the Government to immediately address the matter.
According to sources, The highway from Odo-Ape to Obajana-Lokoja was barricaded by the youths who made sure there was no movement of vehicles on that highway.
“It took the Intervention of the security agencies to clear the road after several hours”.
“We are appealing to the Government to offer support and stand with the families of the deceased victims, ensuring that justice is served.
“The people of Odo-Ape and the wider Kabba-Bunu LGA deserve peace and protection. We are calling on all relevant authorities to prioritize the safety of citizens in this region”.
Meanwhile, the Chairman, Kabba-Bunu local government, Zacchaeus Dare, has promised to restore peace to Odo Ape community.
In a statement signed by his media aide, Omofa John, the council chairman assured that all those behind the incessant killings in Odo-Ape will not go unpunished.
In a related development, the lawmaker representing Kogi West in the National Assembly, Senator Sunday Karimi, has assured that no stone would be left unturned in securing lives and properties in the District.
Karimi gave the assurances while condemning the gruesome attacks on Odo Ape by unknown gunmen, assuring that this would be the last of such attacks on the community.
The Senator condemned in strong terms the attacks saying, “the killings of my people must stop”.
