- In 2024, she was convicted in absentia, with sentencing pending her rearrest
Christy Gold, leader of a notorious human trafficking network operating in the Middle East, has been arrested at Nnamdi Azikwe International Airport, Abuja, upon her return from Dubai.
Gold, also known as Uadiale Christiana Jacob or Christy Evan Osagie, had been on the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) wanted list for five years.
NAPTIP revealed that Gold led a syndicate trafficking underage Nigerian girls to the UAE for sexual exploitation. Previously arrested in 2020 and granted bail by a Federal High Court in Asaba, she absconded to Dubai, violating her bail terms. In 2024, she was convicted in absentia, with sentencing pending her rearrest.
Her accomplices, including Michael Nduka, Osas Wiseman, Vivian, and a Lagos-based “Prophet John,” remain at large.
NAPTIP’s Director General, Binta Adamu Bello, commended the Nigeria Immigration Service for apprehending Gold, emphasizing that justice will be served. “This is a clear message to other traffickers: they can only hide for a while, not forever,” she stated, vowing intensified efforts against trafficking in 2025.
