- The NCAA reaffirmed its commitment to protecting stakeholders’ rights and urged passengers to adhere to regulations while resolving disputes professionally
A Royal Air Maroc passenger, Ibok Maurice Ibok, caused a scene at the airport after discovering his luggage had not arrived with his flight, leading to a heated confrontation with a Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) officer.
Michael Achimugu, NCAA’s Director of Public Affairs, disclosed the incident on Saturday, stating that Mr. Ibok, upset over his “short-landed baggage,” shouted aggressively at the officer, who opted to disengage to avoid further escalation.
Eyewitnesses noted that an aviation staff member appeared to support Mr. Ibok’s actions rather than intervene. Achimugu clarified that NCAA officers are mediators, not service providers, and should not be attacked.
He announced that legal action would be taken against Mr. Ibok, and the staff member involved would face disciplinary measures. Achimugu also noted that Royal Air Maroc is already under investigation for compliance issues.
