The Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar, has reaffirmed his commitment to the welfare of Nigerian Air Force (NAF) veterans, describing their contributions to the nation as invaluable and irreplaceable.

Speaking at a gathering of NAF veterans in Kaduna on Saturday, represented by the Chief of Administration at NAF Headquarters, Air Vice Marshal Idi Sani, Abubakar emphasised the importance of honouring those who dedicated their lives to national service.

“This parley is my initiative to appreciate our veterans for their service and dedication. It also provides an opportunity to connect them with serving personnel to understand their welfare needs and address them effectively,” he said.

He highlighted the initiative as a platform to motivate serving personnel, allowing them to learn from the experiences shared by the veterans.

“It is also an avenue created to ensure that the serving personnel are inspired by the experiences of the veterans, motivating them to give their best to the service,” Abubakar added.

The air chief encouraged veterans to remain loyal and honest in their engagements, assuring them of continued care and support from NAF. He also announced plans to re-engage skilled veterans, revealing that applications were currently open for those with relevant expertise.

“We urge serving personnel to prioritise the care of veterans, knowing they too will benefit from similar support after their service years,” he said.

Earlier, Air Officer Commanding (AOC) Air Training Command, Air Vice Marshal Abubakar Abdullahi, commended the sacrifices and contributions of the veterans, describing them as the backbone of the force’s legacy.

The event served as a platform for NAF to honour its veterans while strengthening bonds between current and former personnel.
