- The governor expressed his condolences to the victims’ families
The Governor of Kogi State, Ahmed Ododo, has ordered an immediate crackdown on gunmen responsible for the killing of two farmers in the Odo-Ape community, Kabba/Bunu Local Government Area.
The attack, which occurred on Friday in the state’s Western Senatorial District, has prompted heightened security measures. In a statement released on Saturday by Kogi’s Commissioner for Information and Communications, Kingsley Fanwo, Governor Ododo directed the state security adviser, Jerry Omodara, to work closely with security agencies and local vigilante groups to ensure the culprits are apprehended.
“The government is putting all hands on deck to ensure the attackers do not escape justice,” Governor Ododo said, urging residents to remain calm and avoid reprisals.
The governor expressed his condolences to the victims’ families, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to protecting lives and property across the state.
“We sympathise with the communities affected by this unfortunate incident. Rest assured that my administration is fully committed to your security and will stop at nothing to guarantee your safety,” he said.
Security operatives have since been deployed to Odo-Ape and other high-risk areas to restore order and prevent further violence. The state government has also appealed to the public for credible information to aid in the arrest of the attackers.
Governor Ododo emphasised the importance of cooperation from residents in tackling insecurity, stating, “Every life in Kogi is important. We are determined to end criminal activities and ensure justice is served.”
He further pledged to honour the victims of the attack, vowing to strengthen security measures across the state.
“The victims of this heinous act will not die in vain. We remain resolute in our fight against the enemies of peace and security in Kogi State,” the governor added.
Residents have been assured that normalcy will be restored swiftly, as the government intensifies efforts to prevent a recurrence of such incidents.
