The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has dismissed 27 officers over allegations of fraud and misconduct, following recommendations by its Staff Disciplinary Committee and approval by Executive Chairman Ola Olukoyede.

In a statement on Monday, Mr Olukoyede reaffirmed the commission’s zero-tolerance for corruption, stating that all allegations against EFCC staff, regardless of rank, would be thoroughly investigated.

The announcement comes as the EFCC investigates a $400,000 fraud involving an unnamed staff member and a Sectional Head.

Meanwhile, the EFCC has warned the public about impersonators using the chairman’s name to extort money. Two suspects, Ojobo Joshua and Aliyu Hashim, were arraigned for allegedly demanding $1 million from a former Nigerian Ports Authority Managing Director, Mohammed Bello-Koko, in a false investigation.

The EFCC urged the public to report such activities and disregard baseless accusations aimed at tarnishing its officers.
