- The development has promoted reports of rumours of him dumping the APC, for the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
Former governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai, has broken his silence on his purported planned exit from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
El-Rufai, an hitherto high-ranking and powerful member of the APC, has seen his authority in the party challenged and undermined and his person overlooked following his exclusion from the cabinet of President Bola Tinubu.
The development has prompted reports of rumours of him dumping the APC, for the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
Reacting to the reports, El-Rufai described them as ‘patent lies’ and implored members of the public to disregard them.
He added that he had instructed his lawyers to go after the person spearheading the circulation of the ‘fake news’.
Posting on X, the former governor wrote: “Please disregard the patent lies and rumours about my political affiliation. I have referred the lead peddlers of the fake news for further action by my lawyers.”
