President Bola Tinubu on Monday, January 6, left Nigeria for Accra, Ghana, to grace the swearing-in of President-elect John Dramani Mahama.
The inauguration ceremony is slated for January 7.
The Presidency had, in a statement released by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, on Sunday, said President Tinubu’s trip to Accra is at the invitation of President-elect Mahama.
“Tinubu’s trip to Accra is at the invitation of the president-elect, who had visited the Nigerian leader earlier in December,” Onanuga said.
President Tinubu was seen off by Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, among other dignitaries.
Mahama, who served as the 12th President of Ghana between 2011 and 2017, was reelected in December 2024. He will succeed President Nana Akuffo-Addo, who has been in office since 2017
