  • BUA Refinery management denies claims of 90% completion, stating the project is progressing steadily and on track for timely delivery
  • The company emphasizes the refinery’s role in enhancing Nigeria’s refining capacity and urges the public to verify news through official channels

BUA Refinery and Petrochemicals management has denied reports claiming that its refinery is 90% complete.

In a statement, the company clarified that its 200,000 barrels-per-day refinery project in Akwa Ibom is progressing steadily but has not reached the reported milestone.

“Contrary to misleading reports suggesting that our refinery is 90% complete, BUA advises the public to disregard such claims, which did not originate from us.

Construction is progressing as planned, and we remain on track to meet our delivery timelines in collaboration with our partners,” the statement read.

BUA highlighted the project’s significance in enhancing Nigeria’s refining capacity and energy security. It reaffirmed its commitment to completing the refinery within the scheduled timeframe.

The company also noted progress in its other energy projects, including developing a mini-LNG plant and several hybrid power plants nationwide.

These initiatives will add capacity to BUA’s over 1,000 MW of installed captive power generation, supporting its industrial operations.

BUA urged the public to rely only on official channels for updates about its projects to avoid being misled. “At BUA, transparency and excellence are our priorities.

Over the past decade, we have successfully delivered more than 12 mega industrial projects worth over $3.5 billion. We will continue to provide verifiable updates as we achieve key milestones,” the company stated.

The statement expressed gratitude for public interest in the refinery project, emphasizing its transformative role in building a stronger, self-reliant Nigeria.
