Nigeria’s President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has fully supported Ghana’s newly sworn-in President, John Dramani Mahama.
Tinubu emphasized Nigeria’s commitment to fostering strong ties and assisting Mahama’s administration.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony in Accra on Tuesday, Tinubu highlighted the progress of democracy in Ghana, Nigeria, and other African nations. He stated that these advancements prove Africa’s ability to embrace democratic values and pursue meaningful development.
“This inauguration marks another significant step in Ghana’s democratic journey,” Tinubu said. “It silences doubts about Africa’s capability for democracy and productive endeavours. Ghana has delivered a clear answer to the world.”
He further asserted that Africa no longer needs to validate its potential to anyone. “Our focus is on lifting our nations out of poverty and building strong economies at our pace,” he declared.
Tinubu addressed ongoing global criticism, urging detractors to acknowledge Africa’s achievements. “Let critics recognize the progress made by Ghana, Nigeria, and others. We owe explanations only to ourselves,” he said.
The Nigerian president also stressed the importance of unity across Africa. He pledged that dialogue would remain the tool for resolving conflicts while committing to preventing harm from within or outside the continent.
“We shall never harm others, nor allow outsiders to disrupt the unity achieved through the sacrifices of our heroes,” Tinubu affirmed.
President Tinubu concluded by promising Nigeria’s unwavering support to Ghana under Mahama’s leadership, strengthening bonds between the two nations.
