The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has commenced preparations for the 2025 Hajj. A delegation led by its Chairman, Prof. Abdullahi Saleh Usman, is on a working visit to Saudi Arabia to finalize key arrangements.
According to a statement by Fatima Sanda Usara, NAHCON’s Assistant Director of Information and Publications, the visit began on January 7, 2025, at the invitation of Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Hajj and Umrah (MoHU).
The main goal of the visit is to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the 2025 Hajj and finalize arrangements for the annual pilgrimage. The bilateral meeting and MoU signing are set for January 12, 2025.
Ambassador Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, will sign the MoU on behalf of the country.
In addition to these activities, the delegation will attend the International Hajj Expo, which starts on January 13, 2025. The expo provides an opportunity to explore and assess service providers for Nigerian pilgrims.
After these major events, Prof. Usman and his team will participate in consular meetings, engage with heads of other countries’ Hajj missions, and hold discussions with key stakeholders.
These discussions include consultations with the General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) and the Hajj e-track registration portal supervisors.
NAHCON will sign contracts with several service providers based on the agreements reached during these meetings.
These include United Agents, Car Syndicates, Tafweej, Adillah in Madinah, and a health supervision company.
Meanwhile, other NAHCON staff are inspecting accommodations, catering services, and medical facilities in Makkah and Madinah.
This inspection ensures all facilities meet the required standards before formal agreements are finalized.
