Gurpreet Gogi, a member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) from the Aam Aadmi Party, has died after reportedly shooting himself accidentally.

The incident occurred around midnight, according to family accounts. Gogi sustained a fatal head injury and was immediately rushed to Dayanand Medical College and Hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead upon arrival.

Punjab Police confirmed the tragic incident, describing it as an apparent accidental shooting.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Jaskaran Singh Teja stated:

“As per family members, he accidentally shot himself, causing a head injury. He was declared dead at the hospital, and his body has been placed in the mortuary at DMC Hospital.”

The DCP noted that the exact cause of death would be determined following a post-mortem examination.

“Further clarity will be provided once the post-mortem report is available,” he added.

Investigations are ongoing to uncover the circumstances leading to the incident.
