  • During meetings in Abuja, Oyebanji discussed leveraging federal programs for poverty reduction, education reforms, and infrastructure improvements in Ekiti

Ekiti State Governor, Mr. Biodun Oyebanji, has intensified his drive to attract federal support for development in the state through engagements with key federal ministries and agencies.

On Friday, the governor held strategic meetings with the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, the Ministry of Works, and the Ministry of Education in Abuja, where he discussed ways to enhance federal presence in Ekiti State and fast-track its development.

During his meeting with the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda Goshwe, Oyebanji was accompanied by Hon. Oyetunji Ojo, Chairman of the Federal Housing Authority.

Discussions focused on leveraging federal programs to support Ekiti residents, including livelihood enhancement, conditional cash transfers for women, support for small and medium enterprises (SMEs), and assistance for persons with disabilities (PWDs).

Following the closed-door meeting, Oyebanji expressed gratitude to President Bola Tinubu for appointing capable leadership at the ministry and highlighted the importance of federal partnerships in improving livelihoods in Ekiti.

“This meeting was a follow-up to a conversation facilitated by Hon. Oyetunji Ojo, reflecting the dedication of our federal representatives.

We explored federal programs that will benefit Ekiti, and I appreciate the minister’s openness to partnership,” he said.

Professor Goshwe praised Ekiti State’s existing social programs, noting their alignment with federal initiatives, which makes collaboration seamless.

He assured the governor of increased federal assistance in 2025, especially in job creation, social safety nets, and support for vulnerable groups.

In another engagement, Governor Oyebanji met with Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, seeking federal backing for state educational reforms and human capital development.

The governor also visited the Ministry of Works and discussed with Minister Engr. Dave Umahi and Permanent Secretary Engr. Adebiyi on infrastructure projects to improve road networks and overall development in Ekiti.

These visits are part of Oyebanji’s commitment to fostering partnerships that will enhance economic and social growth in Ekiti State.
