The Kano State Government has announced the commencement of free school uniform distribution to 796,092 pupils across the state.
According to a statement by the Commissioner for Information, Ibrahim Waiya, the initiative is part of Governor Abba Yusuf’s commitment to improving education and reducing the number of out-of-school children.
The programme will benefit over 789,000 male and female pupils in 7,092 public schools across the state’s 44 local government areas.
Waiya noted that the initiative aims to promote school enrolment and support indigent parents facing financial challenges in providing for their children’s education. He described education as the cornerstone of the Yusuf administration’s development agenda.
The launch event is scheduled for 1:00 pm today (Monday) at the Coronation Hall, Government House, Kano, where Governor Yusuf will oversee the distribution process.
