A 23-year-old man, Prince Nyerovho, has been arrested in Sapele, Delta State, for allegedly stabbing his 65-year-old father to death after consuming a synthetic drug known as “Colorado.”
The incident occurred on Sunday in the Amukpe area, shocking the local community.
According to family sources, Prince, who has a history of addiction to synthetic cannabinoids, had exhibited violent behaviour in the past, including an attempt to strangle his mother.
On the day of the tragedy, Prince reportedly demanded ₦5,000 from his father. When the request was refused, he became enraged, broke into his father’s room, and fatally stabbed him. His younger sister, who tried to intervene, sustained injuries during the altercation.
Neighbours, alerted by the commotion, subdued Prince and handed him over to the police. The father’s body has been taken to a mortuary for an autopsy, while investigations into the case are ongoing.
The incident highlights growing concerns about drug abuse and its devastating effects on families in the region.
