FAAN Seeks ₦580bn for Runway Repairs

FAAN Managing Director, Mrs Olubunmi Kuku, highlighted the need for major upgrades to terminals

The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) says ₦580 billion is needed to rehabilitate ageing runways at airports nationwide, most of which were built in 1978 and have exceeded their lifespan.

FAAN Managing Director, Mrs Olubunmi Kuku, highlighted the need for major upgrades to terminals, obsolete equipment, and security infrastructure during a visit by the Permanent Secretary of Aviation, Dr Ibrahim Kana, on Wednesday.

Kuku also raised concerns about land encroachment due to a lack of perimeter fencing and assured stakeholders of plans to modernise airport facilities.

Kana pledged the ministry’s support for ongoing reforms in the aviation sector.
