The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ogun has mourned the death of Adewunmi Onanuga, the house of representatives’ deputy chief whip.

Onanuga, who represented the Ikenne/Sagamu/Remo north federal constituency in Ogun state died on Wednesday at 59 after a brief illness.

The APC described Onanuga as a “beacon of hope” noting her demise is a “rude shock too heavy for the party to bear,” according to Tunde Oladunjoye, APC publicity secretary.

“She was an exemplary politician, inspiring hope in female party members and the entire party.

“As Deputy Chief Whip, Onanuga represented her federal constituency and Ogun State with distinction.

The APC prayed for strength for Onanuga’s family and associates to bear the irreparable loss.

Ogun Governor Dapo Abiodun described Onanuga’s passing as devastating and shocking, a monumental loss to the state and Nigeria.

The governor prayed for Onanuga’s soul and strength for her family to bear the loss.

“I sympathize with the House of Representatives’ leadership and members on Onanuga’s passing,” Abiodun said.

“Her death was a massive shock to Ogun State, sudden and devastating, leaving an unfillable void.

“Onanuga’s courage and loyalty were exemplary, and she will be deeply missed.

“However, her immense contributions to humanity bring solace.

“May God rest her soul and grant strength to her family,” Abiodun prayed.”
