Kwara Governor Condoles Victims of Niger State Tanker Explosion

He expressed shock at the heavy casualties and the severe injuries sustained by survivors

Kwara State Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq has described Saturday’s petrol tanker explosion in Niger State as a devastating tragedy.

Mr AbdulRazaq, who also chairs the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF), expressed shock at the heavy casualties and the severe injuries sustained by survivors.

In a statement issued by his spokesperson, Rafiu Ajakaye, the governor said, “The Forum is saddened by the petrol tanker explosion in Niger State, in which dozens of people have been killed or injured.”

The statement extended condolences to Niger State Governor Umar Bago, the families of the victims, and those injured in the incident.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the families who lost their loved ones in the incident, and we wish those injured a quick recovery,” Mr AbdulRazaq said.

He urged citizens to exercise caution during emergencies, particularly in situations involving petrol spills.

“The Forum prays for the repose of the souls of the dead victims,” the statement concluded.

The explosion, which occurred in a densely populated area, left several people dead and many others battling severe burns.
