- Kemi Badenoch criticizes Nigeria, warning that Britain could end up like it if the system isn’t changed
- Badenoch shares her personal experience of growing up in a poor Nigeria, highlighting the impact of inflation on her family
Kemi Badenoch, the leader of the Conservative Party in the United Kingdom, has intensified her attacks on Nigeria.
The politician, who was born in Nigeria, made headlines at the end of last year for her divisive comments about her homeland.
Badenoch stated that she did not want Britain to become like Nigeria during her first address of the year, which was given at an event hosted by Onwards, a British think tank that conducts research on social and economic issues.
The Tory leader emphasised the value of fostering trust, claiming that the Conservative Party is the best organisation to restore Britain.
According to her, if the system is not changed, the UK may end up like Nigeria.
“And why does this matter so much to me? It’s because I know what it is like to have something and then to lose it. I don’t want Britain to lose what it has.”
“I grew up in a poor country and watched my relatively wealthy family become poorer and poorer, despite working harder and harder as their money disappeared with inflation.
“I came back to the UK aged 16 with my father’s last £100 in the hope of a better life. So I have lived with the consequences of terrible governments that destroy lives, and I never, ever want it to happen here.”
