Troops of the Nigerian Army have reportedly neutralized a son of notorious bandit leader Bello Turji in Zamfara.
The operation, carried out by Operation Fansan Yanma, combined ground and air attacks to dismantle key hideouts in Fakai.
Intelligence sources revealed that Turji lost family members and top lieutenants, and his panicked voice was heard on the radio calling for support “from seven other bandit leaders”.
According to sources, “We killed his son and many of his fighters during the operation. I also listened to Turji’s panicked voice calling for reinforcements.
“No one of them showed up, and one of his spies narrowly escaped from us today.”
The military targeted camps including Zangon Dan Gwandi and Zangon Kagara, and burned a school used by Turji to store supplies.
The operation was led by special forces, supported by the General Officer Commanding and personnel from the Navy’s Special Boat Service.
