Enyimba’s journey in the CAF Confederation Cup ended with a 3-1 defeat to Zamalek at Cairo International Stadium on Sunday night.
Mustafa Shalaby opened the scoring for Zamalek in the 29th minute. Shortly after halftime, Seifeddine Jaziri extended the home team’s lead.
Enyimba fought back when Ifeanyi Ihemekwele scored in the 57th minute, giving the Nigerian side hope. However, Jaziri struck again, securing his brace just three minutes before full time to seal the win for Zamalek.
With this result, Enyimba finished their Group D campaign in third place, collecting only five points from six matches.
Meanwhile, in the group’s other match, Al Masry defeated Mozambique’s Black Bulls 3-1. The victory secured Al Masry second place in the group standings.
