The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abass, has urged Nigerians, particularly leaders, to embrace the culture of sacrifice to secure a brighter future for the next generation.

Abbas made this call in Abeokuta, Ogun State, during the 8th Day Fidau Prayers held in honour of the late Monsurat Bankole, the mother of former Speaker of the House of Representatives Dimeji Bankole. Monsurat Bankole passed away on January 10 at the age of 78.

Represented by his Deputy, Ben Kalu, Speaker Abass praised the late Bankole for her life of selflessness and sacrifice, which he said should serve as an example for others.

The event drew prominent personalities, including former governors Ibikunle Amosun (Ogun), Kayode Fayemi (Ekiti), Emeka Ihedioha (Imo), and former House Speaker Yakubu Dogara. Other notable attendees included former Deputy Speaker Yusuff Lasun, former Minister of State for Defence Musiliu Obanikoro, and former Minister of Aviation Hadi Sirika.
