Court jails man to 21 years in prison for stealing church property in Ondo

The Ondo State’s Magistrate Court sentences man to 21 years imprisonment for stealing church property.

Olushola Olatunda, 38, a bricklayer, was convicted of stealing church items valued at over N1 million.

Olatunda faced six counts of illegal entry and theft, to which he pleaded guilty.

The bricklayer allegedly broke into a church, stealing valuable items, including a mixer and public address system.

Prosecutor D.S. Msonter-Shaga revealed Olatunda broke into Revelation of God Miracle Church, stealing items worth N500,000 in December 2024.

Msonter-Shaga stated Olatunda also broke into Christ Apostic Church, stealing items, including an amplifier and generator, valued at N534,600.

Olatunda was accused of stealing 33 bags of cement valued at N165,000 from Shasha market.

Magistrate Damilola Sekoni convicted the defendant, imposing sentences ranging from one to four years for each count.

“In counts one, two, three, five, and six, the defendant is sentenced to four years imprisonment each, and in count four, the convict is sentenced to one-year imprisonment.”

Sekoni ruled the sentences would run concurrently, resulting in a four-year prison term.
