Hoodlums attack NDLEA operatives

A National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) officer was injured during a confrontation with suspected drug dealers in Kano State’s Bebeji Local Government Area.

The suspects, Musa Usman, 25, and Buhari Ya’u Bashir, 24, were caught during a targeted operation at Rahama Roundabout on January 20, 2025.

Sadiq Muhammad Maigatari, NDLEA’s Public Relations Officer in Kano, revealed this information in a statement issued on Wednesday.

According to Maigatari, the operation resulted in the seizure of various illicit substances, including 1.1 kilograms of cannabis sativa and tablets of diazepam and Exol.

Musa Usman’s attempt to resist arrest with a dagger led to the officer’s injury.

State Commander Abubakar Idris Ahmad condemned the attack, reaffirming the agency’s commitment to its mission.

“Attacks on law enforcement officers in the line of duty will not deter us from carrying out our mission to rid society of the scourge of drug abuse and trafficking,” Ahmad stated.

Both suspects are currently in NDLEA custody and will face charges for drug-related offenses and assaulting a law enforcement officer.
