The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has announced the arrest of eight suspects and the recovery of significant exhibits during a series of coordinated raids targeting hotspots in Abuja.
The operations, conducted on Thursday by the Command’s Anti-Narcotics Unit, focused on areas notorious for criminal activities involving the sale and consumption of illicit drugs. These locations included SDP Junction in Gwagwalada, Lugbe Federal Housing near Tipper Garage, Wuse Zone 5 near Access Bank, and AYA Roundabout.
According to the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, the raids are part of ongoing efforts to rid the FCT of criminal elements and enhance public safety. She revealed that while some suspects attempted to flee, police operatives pursued and apprehended them swiftly.
In a statement, SP Adeh detailed the success of the operation, saying, “On 23rd January 2025, operatives of the FCT Police Command, under the Anti-Narcotics Unit, successfully executed a series of coordinated raids targeting identified hotspots across the FCT. These locations were known to be used by criminal elements for the sale and consumption of illicit drugs and substances.”
